Our farms are silty clay.
When I first started farming here I saw that soil erosion and compaction were issues and I knew we had to fix it. We began to no-till in 2000. We also use multi-species cover crops and chicken manure which are incorporated using shallow tillage.
To manage surface water runoff we put in diversion berms and grassed waterways
