What We Covered in This Session:
✔️ The Three Learning Types:
- Formal Learning – Structured education with predefined objectives (e.g., workshops, certifications).
- Non-Formal Learning – Hands-on, experiential learning outside of institutions (e.g., field days, mentoring).
- Informal Learning – Everyday learning through personal experience, conversations, and trial-and-error.
✔️ Malcolm Knowles’ Principles of Adult Learning (Andragogy):
- Adults are self-directed learners.
- They bring prior experiences that shape their learning.
- Learning must be relevant to their current roles.
- Problem-solving is a key driver of learning.
- Internal motivation is stronger than external rewards.
✔️ How This Applies to Farmers & Knowledge Exchange:
- Farmers learn best from other farmers who share real-world experiences.
- Practical, problem-solving approaches (e.g., on-farm demonstrations, group discussions) are the most effective.
- Building trusted networks is essential for information-sharing.
