Farm about 800 acres between owned rented and share cropped land. Corn soys edible beans and wheat. Utilize strip till and no till for about 10 years. Incorporate cover crops whenever possible. Farming with my dad for the last 4 years, hes been farming his own land since the 80s. Recently (3rd year) I have added a cow calf herd to utilize crop residues and cover crops. Strip till and no till plus cover crops. Starting to integrate cows to cycle nutrients. My dad has been conservation focused for as long as I can remember. Things learned is degraded soil takes time to recover. Also with cover crops you always need plan A B and C for things like termination strategy, specie mixes, and herbicide tolerances.
