I am a 6th generation farmer and currently farm with my dad on our family farm. We raise 11000 pullets and 11000 layers for egg production and have 40 acres of planted vineyard. My role is primarily on the poultry side where I manage both the layers and pullets, but I also share the vineyard management with my dad. I have been working on the farm since I was a kid and was able to work part time throughout my entire University career, but since graduating from a Masters in 2023, I have been on the farm full time. Throughout my University education I did a lot of learning regarding soil health and had an opportunity to do a major research course on soil health and cover crops. I am always very interested learning more and adapting new practices in the vineyard that benefit the long term sustainability of the soil.
