DOING: 1) holistically grazing cattle, 2) bale feeding on pasture in winter, 3) no pasture tillage since 2017, 4) reducing tillage for vegetables, 5) planted a native species tree line and shelterbelt in 2019, 6) reduced cattle's access to hedgerows to support biodiversity, 7) only pesticide since 2012 was Cylence on cattle in 2021, 8) only herbicide is a mix of vinegar, salt, and dish soap for spot treatments, 9) making own compost and had it analyzed to apply correct nutrient quantities for vegetables. FUTURE: started an EFAO Farmer Led Research Project comparing co-composting a phosphorus amendment (preferably CalPhos but currently bone meal) versus applying the amendment with the finished compost -- anecdotal evidence and some research papers suggest co-composting should make amendments much more effective thus improving soil health and reducing input costs.
