I grew up on a family farm and started raising livestock (rabbits, sheep, chickens) at a young age and then growing produce to sell at farmer's markets as soon as I could drive. I have a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Guelph. My wife and I own 50 acres and we also manage my parents' 450 acres, with our teenage children also involved in the farm. My father is still involved in the operation, as well. Our children dabble in livestock in a small way (free range laying chickens and ducks, horses, and veal calves) which helps make use of by-products from cleaning grain. In the future we may use cover crops as livestock feed. Our son wants to farm and is going to Ridgetown in September for a Diploma in Agriculture.
