Farming for over 20 years. Farm with family. Crop rotation consists of corn(grain), soybean, wheat, canola and field peas with cover crops. I currently crop about 1800 acres. Have a contract finishing hog barn and am responsible for manure from two other hog operations (Dad and Brother’s) Diverse crop rotation, minimal tillage, over wintering cover crops. Started five years ago. Farm a lot of sandy soils. Moisture and structure are important and need improvement. Not easy to do...moving target with rented ground. Cost and return don’t always align. Timing is everything.
