I grew up on my family’s farm in eastern Ontario, but 4 years ago (almost 5) I moved to my grandparents farm in Orangeville to begin farming with them. The farm was black angus cow calf before and when I started farming it I turned it into all grain and pumpkins. I’ve made changes otherwise to, especially in regards to soil management, for the better. I am now farming it with the advice of my dad, but I run the business as I am on farm. I also work off farm as an agronomist. When I started farming the Orangeville farm it was managed with conventional tillage and there were a lot of erosion issues. Since then I’ve been transitioning it to no-till and also implementing some cover crops. I do my best to learn what I can to continue to improve our soil.
