I don't farm, but I do advocate for soil in ag! I work with Alpha Agri as their Research and Laboratory Manager (in addition to speaking on soil microbiology). My background is soil microbiology, which is my primary focus. In the past year, I have begun offering a soil health testing service to farmers which includes physical, chemical and biological parameters. In the summer I also run field trials with the intent to improve soil health on 20 acres, corn/soybean (I am working on convincing the landowner to allow cover crops!!), while in the winter I run small trials in-house (in pots and in the lab). I am working on it! Mainly working on reduced tillage and implementing cover crops. I am also testing out soil amendments and their effect on soil health and crop success. VERY early stages yet!
